Memorial Day Parade, Ceremony and Book Signing.

Memorial Day Parade - Albion, Indiana, May 30, 2011.

What a beautiful day we had yesterday in Albion, Indiana!  The weather could not have been better.  After what has seemed like months of nearly continuous rain, the clouds broke to offer a sunny and warm morning for the Memorial Day Parade.

Memorial Day, Rose Hill Cemetery - Albion, Indiana

And what a parade it was!  It keeps getting bigger and better each year.  The column, which includes fire trucks, police vehicles, scouting groups and Albion American Legion Post 246, begins at the courthouse and continues on West Main down to Rose Hill Cemetery.  There the Memorial Day Ceremony takes place, a moving tribute to our veterans and especially to those who offered the ultimate sacrifice, ending with a roll call of those veterans buried at Rose Hill, a 21-gun salute and taps.

Memorial Day Book Signing - Michael McCoy

Michael McCoy held an afternoon book signing, also well attended, at Albion American Legion Post 246. McCoy autographed copies of his first book, BOOTPRINTS, and also his latest release, EVERYTOWN, USA.

A special thanks to all those who made  a wonderful Memorial Day parade, ceremony and book signing possible.  Thank you to our police and fire teams and scouting troops for their participation in the parade.  And a special thanks goes out to Albion American Legion Post 246 for planning and executing the day’s festivities to perfection. Well done veterans.
