Weekly History Wrap Up: 03/16/12.

It’s opening Friday of March Madness, but still time for the Weekly History Wrap Up.

This one’s hitting a little too close to home. Former employees of the old Joslyn Manufacturing plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana, are being sought out regarding their exposure to radiation. Workers extruded uranium billets into rods for the Manhattan Project during World War II.

Revolutionary War hero, Captain Samuel Smedley’s headstone was recently repaired and reset at the Old Burying Grounds in Connecticut.

A living history Civil War event will be held this weekend at Fort Davidson, Missouri.

At the Chinese box office, “War Horse” has surged into the lead.

Rhode Island World War II Navy veteran, John Wilson, has finally received medals from his service career, including surviving a kamikaze attack on his ship at Okinawa.

And lastly, photojournalist David Kennerly’s amazing collection from the Vietnam War will be on tour in North Carolina throughout March.

May your brackets bring you great joy. Til Monday, have a historical weekend.
