Weekly History Wrap-Up: 11/26/10.

Fortunately, in looking back through this past holiday week, there’s more to see than my now bigger belly.  Of course the big news was North Korea’s shelling of Yeonpyeong Island, South Korea.

David Glasier from the News-Herald of Northern Ohio brings us a great piece on doctors helping vets with  PTSD and other related mental issues.

The idea of Pilgrims and Indians sharing a plate together in perfect harmony that first Thanksgiving seems to be a bit off the mark.  Daniel N. Paul shows us a different, less lovefesty version of the relationship between the early settlers and local Indians at Plymouth.

How many old-timers remember River Runs Red by the 80s band Midnight Oil?  Maybe I’m alone, but I used to love that song … at least, back in my activist days.  Anyway, the Marcal River in Hungary tragically did run red a little over a month ago.  The Hungarian government recently announced that they’ll be peddling much of their communist artwork to finance the clean-up.  Guess they don’t need it anymore.  Anyone in the market for a floor-to-ceiling painting of Lenin?

Have a great weekend.  See ya next week.
