Letters From War Wednesday: World War II – Private David Kline.

This edition of Letters From War Wednesday features a short note home, dated October 1942, from Private David Kline, serving with Company A, 326th Glider Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division.

“I am writing you this evening to let you know that I have finally moved. I arrived here at Fort Bragg Monday morning. We were 65 hours moving from Camp Claiborne. I believe I will like this camp better. I think the climate here in North Carolina is more healthy than in Louisiana.

“We are starting into the glider troop training, which is practically the same training as the paratroopers receive.

“It is certainly nice weather down here in North Carolina. The days are warm and sunshiny.

“…Say ‘hello’ to all the home town folks and tell them that if they should be coming down to Fort Bragg to be sure and drop in to see me.”
