Late last week we brought you the conclusion of a July 1944 newspaper article entitled, “U.S. 90th Plays Historic Role.” The piece included a short paragraph on the heroic exploits of Captain Leroy Pond. Interestingly, Tristan, our dedicated follower in France, noticed the excerpt and included a link to a piece he had also recently authored on Pond for the Shiloh Museum. Small world, huh?
Anyway, leave it to my old pal, Hobert Winebrenner, to add to the mix. In going through some old papers, I recently came across a copy of an agenda for the Dedication Ceremony of the Leroy R. Pond Army Reserve Center, dated May 30, 1959. The program includes Pond’s Distinguished Service Cross Citation.
