Thanksgiving – 2010.

Loosen the belt another notch–it’s Thanksgiving Day.  Although our public schools and a politically correct society continue to distance Thanksgiving from images of Indians and Pilgrims sharing a plate, the History Junkie will not.  Like it or not, Thanksgiving can be traced back to Plymouth Colony and the Harvest Celebration of 1621.  Perhaps after lunch, some football, a nap, some dinner, more football, some pie and another nap, HJ and the little junkies will make Pilgram hats … just for old times sake.

But in the end, Thanksgiving is about being thankful.  And we certainly are … for not only the joys, but also the challenges that keep life so interesting.  Family and friends are, of course, foremost on our minds, but we must never forget our troops.  A special Thanksgiving Day “thank you” to all those serving at home and abroad, and to the families who must endure the time away.  THANK YOU!
