Uncommonly Hobert: Waiting for a Train.

H. Winebrenner-90th ID

In going through some old papers this weekend, I came across another little tidbit given to me by my old pal, 90th Infantry Division trooper, BOOTPRINTS author and perennial wisecrack, Hobert Winebrenner. Just right for another edition of “Uncommonly Hobert.” Enjoy.

“A woman complained to the builder of her new house that the whole place shook when trains went by a block away. ‘Why, the vibration practically shakes me out of bed!’ she said. ‘Don’t take my word for it, lie down there yourself.’ With a resigned shrug, the man settled onto the bed.

“It was then that the woman’s husband suddenly appeared in the bedroom doorway. ‘Just what do you think you’re doing?’ he roared at the visitor.

“The builder replied, ‘Would you believe waiting for a train?’”

Thanks for the memories Hobert.
